Walk into our reception area where you will be greeted by our friendly team. If you were able to complete your intake forms online prior to your appointment, then you’re all set! If you prefer, we will provide you with new patient paperwork that includes a health questionnaire, request for your insurance information and contact information. We will also provide you with information to familiarize you with our office and how we handle things like patient privacy.

Dr. Mansey prefers to personally meet all new patients by providing a comprehensive exam on your first visit. From your very first call our discussion will help us understand your needs and begin to shape our intentions for this initial exam. Many patients are surprised at this approach as it is usually different from their prior experiences and this exam may take one to two hours if necessary. The team at Mansey Family Dentistry of Washington, LLC will ask you questions, get to know your oral hygiene routine, and listen to your general and oral health concerns. Our comprehensive initial exam starts with a thorough review of your medical history and current medications in addition to taking vital signs. With every exam we also include head and neck cancer screening as part of our routine which then transitions to oral cancer screening. We provide a thorough assessment of your TMJ (temporal-mandibular joint) as well as your bite and smile. Then we capture a full set of digital x-rays and/or panoramic x-ray, a digital 3D surface scan which is used to create a digital model of your teeth, and a photo series will be completed. This information will be reviewed with you, often referred to “co-diagnosis”. You see what we see, which allows us to educate our patients on the risks and benefits of all treatment options, sometimes including no treatment at all. We believe in educating patients and empowering them to make good choices to improve their oral health. We will demonstrate how to properly care for your teeth and make additional suggestions as needed. Our assessment of your gum health will determine what type of dental cleaning is indicated which can then be scheduled accordingly. When appropriate your cleaning may be done on the same day as your initial exam. For complex cases, a follow up consultation will be recommended so we can study our findings and present ideal treatment options for your needs. Our dental hygienist will clean your teeth then Dr. Mansey will complete your examination and make recommendations for proposed dental treatments.

We work to ensure our patients feel comfortable, and that includes minimizing their pain as much as possible. If you are undergoing a dental procedure, Dr. Mansey will meet with you to discuss your pain tolerance and create a plan for your visit. pain management.
